Double Exposure
Reflection
What images did you select for your double exposure? I selected images from the portrait project along with miscellaneous pictures from previous digital photography projects.
How do the objects relate compositionally? For the picture of my cousin, books overlaying her, matches the composition of her body in the photo next to the tree.
How did you manipulate and modify each image? Each image was just converted to black and white and put into one layer.
What steps did you take to merge layers to create a unified image? I put both pictures into black and white, overlayed the books onto the picture of my cousin, and erased the layer everywhere except for over my cousin's body and face. Then I lightened the opacity so the layer did not completely cover her.
How do your images relate conceptually? Trees=paper, paper=books, books=Catin(my cousin)
What concept, idea or meaning does your double exposure convey? My cousin Catin is big into reading and very knowledgable. The picture of books overlaying her portrays her wise personality and how smart she is.

Photo Essay
Photo Essay Reflection
The subject of my photo essay was "things that I thought were pretty" wherever I went. Every photo has the sky in it, presenting a common theme of the sky being the center of beauty in photos. I took pictures of the sky because the color of the sky and the clouds create the best part of the photo. The sky is different all the time, whether it's during the day, at night, and depending on the weather. The sky is forever changing, just like people do. The concept is that change is good. All the photos connect and are unified by the sky and the different colors in the sky make the series more interesting.
