Expressive Light
Reflection
Pick your favorite image from the series and write a reflection on your technical process.
Reference your notebook to write down what camera angle, light angle and direction, light intensity: if you used a reflector or an umbrella... etc.
Also in your reflection, let us know the name and theme of your magazine, who your classmate was acting as and any story you created to go along with your images.
Then write about why you picked this photo as your favorite. What about it makes it the most successful? What elements of design (composition, contrast, range of values, leading lines, etc...) are working well in your image?

My favorite image from the gallery is the first image. The camera angle is straight on, while the light is coming from behind the subject. No umbrella or light reflector was used. The name of my magazine is Reader's Digest. The theme of the magazine is reading, authors, and works of literature. My classmate was acting as a famous author, Courtney Faris, in an article about her favorite things titled "What Makes You Happy?" Each picture represents an item or feeling of happiness and joy. I picked this photo as my favorite because there is a range of values from black, to gray, to white. The light coming from behind creates a certain glow that outlines Courtney's face and makes the shape of her face and the shape of the flower stand out.
