Line and Shape
Line and Shape Reflection
1. What locations and subject matter did you choose to shoot for your photos?
I took pictures of things whenever I went somewhere. None of these pictures are at my house. I wanted to focus on the topic of travel.
2.Describe the photos you took:What is the distance in the shot? (How close or far away are you from your subject?)
I generally take pictures farther away because it gives pictures more depth. However, for pictures 4 & 8, the pictures were taken closer to show what was in between the fence spaces and accent the picture.
3. What was your point of view when you took the photos? (from above, below, straight on...)
Some of the pictures are straight on, and some are from above and below. So there is variety.
4. Are your photographs horizontal or vertical?
The pictures are both horizontal and vertical.
5. Did you consider the rule of thirds to compose your shots? In which photos? Describe.
I tried to imply the rule of thirds for some of my photos, but i like different types of composition in my pictures, and not so much symmetry.
6. Which one of of your photos is a dynamic composition that successfully leads the viewer’s eye through the work?
I think picture number 5 really leads your eye through the piece because it was taken in an art gallery and the pictures on the wall really help to create the line of the picture.

Proper Exposure:
In changing your photos to black and white, we have adjusted the levels in your photos with consideration of the highlights, mid-tones and shadows.
Examine your photos and answer the following questions:
1.Which image may be overexposed? (too bright) Why?
The picture of the pumpkins is purposely a little too bright because I wanted to make the lighter pumpkins stick out in the rows.
2.Which area/areas is/are too bright?
The lighter pumpkins are brighter.
3.Which image is underexposed? (too dark)
The picture of the dandelion is too dark because the camera is focused on the dandelion, and the grass is blurred in the background, and darker.
4.Which area/areas is/are too dark?
5.Which image is the best example of a properly exposed photo? Explain why.

Shutter Speed and Motion
Select one of your images that show a fast shutter speed.
1.Approximately what shutter speed did you use to freeze action? 1/1000
2.What ISO and WB settings did you use? 200, direct sunlight
3.What action did you freeze? (Describe). The sheet moving through the wind, I froze the sheet in the air.
4.What was your distance, and point of view for the photo? I was standing a few feet away while Kerrie held the sheet and the wind carried it.
5.Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strengthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, contrast...) The texture of the cloth makes the picture interesting, so does the black and white. I zoomed in on the sheet to make it compositionally appealing.
Select one of your images that show a slow shutter speed.
1.Approximately what shutter speed did you use to purposely blur action? 1/25
2.What ISO and WB settings did you use? 200, direct sunlight
3.What motion, or part of the image shows blur? (Describe). Kerrie standing behind the tube is in clear vision, but she is swinging the tube in front of her creating a blur of the tube because of the slow shutter speed.
4.What was your distance, and point of view for the photo? I was standing in front of Kerrie, a few feet back, at my height.
5.Describe any compositional elements (tools) that are present in or that strengthen the photo.(rule of thirds, positive and negative space, line, shape, pattern, texture, strong colors, contrast...) I cropped the picture to emphasize the blur of the sound tube.
